"Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 +" Review: Pikaichi among Android tablets!
The keyboard is also good!
Samsung's flagship tablet "Galaxy Tab S7 +" has a stylus pen and is so beautiful that the display is fascinating. If you attach an optional keyboard, it will look like a laptop computer, but what about when you actually use it? US Gizmodo reviews in detail.
Choosing an Android tablet can feel like a bit of a disappointment compared to the iPad Pro. That's because Apple is making changes in the iPad OS 13 and 14 to bring the reliability of laptops to the iPad, while Android remains at a standstill.
But Samsung still hasn't given up on making top-notch tablets in terms of both entertainment and work efficiency. For iPad lovers, the Galaxy Tab S7 + is the best Android tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 +
What is this? : Samsung's flagship 12-inch tablet.
How much? : From $ 850 (about 89,500 yen). The book cover keyboard costs $ 230 (about 24,300 yen).
Favorite place: The great thing about the display. Beautiful and smooth design. Quad speaker. Super comfortable key. The accuracy of the stylus with built-in magnetic charging.
What I don't like: Android's work efficiency still has room for improvement. It's not cheap. There is no headphone jack. Battery life is reasonable depending on the situation.
Advantages and disadvantages of displays
The Tab S7 + has an aluminum body with rounded corners and straight sides (similar to the iPad Pro). However, unlike the large iPad Pro, which has a 3: 2 aspect ratio 12.9-inch display and can handle both work and play in the same way, Samsung's flagship Tab S7 + is more entertaining and slightly It features a small 12.4-inch 16:10 OLED screen.
The nice thing about this approach is that the Tab S7 + is a bit more portable than the iPad Pro. It also has an aspect ratio that is close to what many streaming services apply, so less space is wasted. But most notable is the beauty of the screen. With a variable refresh rate of 120Hz, the vibrant OLED panel is the cleanest tablet on the market today. If you look at this display, you will immediately like the Tab S7 + ... That's the beauty. With a peak brightness of over 550 knits, it seems to be useful outdoors.
However, Samsung's strategy also has its drawbacks. That's because the Tab S7 +'s 16:10 display doesn't stretch long vertically, so the DeX mode taskbar can get into your workspace and make your screen feel a bit cramped. Of course, there is no problem with using it for entertainment rather than work, but if you buy a book cover keyboard, you will pay about $ 850 (about 89,500 yen), or about $ 1,100 (about 115,800 yen). From then on, I wanted to say a little greed ...
Performance is the best!
Plus, the powerful quad speakers give you an immersive audio experience, which is another nice thing about the Tab S7 + hardware. In addition to face recognition, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition can be assumed to be easy to use even when wearing a mask.
Even though many people use Bluetooth headphones, I wish I had an earphone jack as well. It's a device of this size, so I don't think there's enough space.
Now with the Tab S7 + specs, you'll experience the best performance with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of base storage (with options up to 512 GB), and a microSD card slot. Dual rear cameras with the same features as Samsung Galaxy smartphones, such as night mode and live focus video, will be available in 5G later this year.
Where I was interested
One thing that hurt a little is battery life. In my own test to keep playing the video, it lasted 8 hours and 2 minutes until it ran out of charge. This isn't a terrible problem, but it gives a slightly short impression. Battery life seems to grow or shrink depending on what you do or whether 120Hz mode is enabled, but you can't pinpoint this exactly.
In other normal use, it is a big success as a main machine all day while writing this review. It was also excellent on standby, consuming less than 5% of the battery overnight.
However, the bigger problem may be work efficiency. However, I felt that this was more important for Google to improve than Samsung. Over the last two years, the iPadOS has evolved with comprehensive mouse support, handwriting conversion, a redesigned sidebar, a totally revamped UI, and more, compared to Android tablets. I was a little stuck. During that time, Samsung has been working on improving the DeX mode to improve work efficiency, but the result is still like a (excellent) bandage.
A little more about usability
But please don't get me wrong. Working with TabS7 + shouldn't be too painful. Simply tap the DeX icon to launch familiar UIs such as desktop app icons, handy taskbars, and system trays. If you open the two apps side by side, you can easily multitask from checking emails to creating PowerPoint, so you can feel as if you were working on a computer.
Samsung's book cover keyboard is also very comfortable, the touchpad is reasonably sized, and it's reasonably stiff and elastic. In addition to supporting many standard shortcuts such as CTRL + C and CTRL + V, there are also buttons for launching DeX to call the Google Assistant and open the app drawer. All the problems with working with the Tab S7 + come from other trivial points.
For example, even when a keyboard is connected, you can't right-click on the touchpad without booting in DeX mode. This is a bit annoying to highlight text and fix typos, as the mouse doesn't automatically change to the I cursor in the same situation as when typing in Google Docs. There is that it will be.
Some apps use the mobile UI by default, so you may not be able to take advantage of the tablet layout or the large Tab S7 + display. For this reason, it's nice that Samsung has the ability to easily connect the Tab S7 + to another display for dual screens, but it doesn't seem to be as smooth as the iPad Pro.
The Galaxy Tab S7 + is the most attractive and gorgeous entertainment tablet on the market, and you'll be hooked on displays, speakers, styluses and designs. It may be too expensive to use as a mobile video or gaming device, but it definitely offers a very premium experience.
When it comes to productivity, depending on what you're doing, you can get the same experience as a big laptop. However, despite Samsung's efforts, there are times when Android is inevitably lacking when compared to the iPad OS. That said, the hardware is worthy of evaluation, and the Tab S7 + remains the best Android tablet.
Note
-Galaxy Tab S7 + stylus included. A book cover keyboard costs an additional $ 230.
-The hardware of the Tab S7 + is excellent, especially the OLED display is the most beautiful level of tablets on the market.
-Samsung DeX mode has been improved, making the Tab S7 + an even better hybrid device. However, it is not perfect due to insufficient support for tablets by Android.
・ Battery life is good (8 hours) to quite good (11 hours). It depends on what you do or if 120Hz mode is enabled.
