"Qubii" that automatically backs up photo data to microSD while charging iPhone
Automatically copy photos in the camera roll each time you charge
For iOS, if you turn on iCloud Photos, your photo data will be automatically backed up to the cloud, but it's a little hard to see when it will be backed up. In other words, it is backed up "at any time" and "in the cloud", but the difference is that this product is backed up "when connected to the Lightning cable for charging" and "to the memory card".
The size of the main unit is about the same as the USB power adapter that comes with the iPhone, connect it to the USB power adapter, and plug the Lightning cable into the USB port of this product to use it. In other words, the usual way to connect is "USB power adapter"-"Lightning cable"-"iPhone", but insert this product in between, "USB power adapter"-"This product"-"Lightning cable"-" The installation order is "iPhone".
To use it, first prepare a microSD and insert it into the main unit. Needless to say, it is necessary to check the capacity of the photos to be backed up and prepare a microSD with the capacity to cover it as much as possible. This time, my iPhone used 32GB microSDHC because the photo occupies about 20GB in the camera roll. By the way, it supports up to 128GB microSDXC.
Insert the Lightning cable into the USB port of this product, and connect it to the iPhone. It is almost the same size as the power adapter (right) that comes with the iPhone.Actually connect in this order Connect to the power adapter with a Lightning cable compatible with up to 128GB microSDXC connected Before using, install the dedicated application "Qubii" Before connecting the iPhone to this product , Start the app and make initial settings such as permission to access photos and contactsBefore using it, install the dedicated application "Qubii" on the iPhone and select the access permission for photos. As far as I tried, it worked fine on my iPad (iPad mini 4). By the way, access to contacts must be turned on the first time, but it can be turned off after that.
After completing the initial settings and connecting the iPhone, the app will launch, the camera roll will be scanned, and the backup will start. This time, I backed up about 6,500 photo data (about 20GB) in my iPhone, and the backup was completed in about 2 hours. It's not that fast, but it's probably not a problem because it's only the first time to back up this amount and only the diffs from the next time.
Once the backup is complete, the camera roll will be scanned each time you connect, and a differential backup of the added images will be performed automatically. Images that have been backed up once are not automatically deleted at the backup destination even if the corresponding image is deleted in the camera roll (although it is natural).
If automatic backup is performed unconditionally just by connecting to this product, there is a risk that a malicious third party may use another Qubii to extract photo data from the stolen iPhone. Therefore, this product has a mechanism to allow automatic backup only to trusted Qubii by performing authentication work called binding on the application.
After completing the initial settings, a screen like this will appear, so connect your iPhone with a Lightning cable. When you connect your iPhone, the app will start automatically and a notification will be displayed at the top of the screen. So tap OK. Only exFAT is supported for microSD where binding (authentication) is executed. The main screen for formatting was displayed when connecting for the first time. After that, the backup will start automatically. Automatic backup start. By the way, the backup is completed, which tells you what the item is, but does not tell you the remaining time. This time, it took about 2 hours to back up about 20GB, and the differential backup after the next time can be done without starting the application.Progress is displayed on the screenWhat's great is that it has a function to delete the backed up data in the iPhone in one shot after backing up. This feature is nice because most similar tools require you to open the camera roll and manually select the target file to delete the backed up data.
It also has a function to delete all backed up items at once. This screen is displayed before the display notifying that the backup is completed. This product also has a function to restore the backed up data. You can specify one by one, and you can also write back the entire camera roll, which is useful when changing iPhone models. It's not tied to an Apple ID, so you can restore it to a device with a different Apple ID.
As an aside, if you use this "Batch Delete" and "Restore" together, you can easily organize the photos in the camera roll. In other words, after backing up the entire image, delete all the photos in the camera roll, and then select and restore only the necessary images from the backup data. It takes much less effort than selecting unnecessary images on the camera roll and then performing a backup.
On the home screen, tap the "Qubii" menu at the top to display the backed up data. Backed up data. Displayed monthly. Tap to display thumbnails. Restore to iPhone is possible. Can be selected individually or collectively. The photo is the same as the original as far as the properties are seen, and the Exif data etc. are also as they areBy the way, the data restored from this product to the iPhone is excluded from the backup target, so it may be backed up immediately after moving a photo of several tens of GB to another iPhone. not. It's an impression that it was designed with proper consideration, where a miscellaneous application can be backed up twice.
