Focus on pen-compatible Galaxy new smartphone "fusion with Note" and "environmental protection"
On February 10 (Japan time), Samsung Electronics announced the "Galaxy S22" series at a global event. The top model that fused with the Note series corresponds to the "S pen". We also emphasized our “sustainable” initiatives.
The top model "Galaxy S22 Ultra" is positioned as a new product of the Galaxy S series, but the design inherits the Note series. So to speak, it has become a fusion of two flagship product brands.
The main camera is equipped with a telephoto lens equivalent to 10x optical, which was a feature up to S21 Ultra. The dedicated "S Pen" can be stored inside the main unit, which is familiar with the Note series, and both series are fused in terms of functionality.
Even in the same generation, the specs are differentiated from the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. The screen size is 6.1 type for S22 and 6.6 type for S22+, while the S22 Ultra is 6.8 type, which is the maximum. The S22 Ultra is outstanding in terms of the performance of the in-camera and telephoto camera, and the maximum capacity of memory.
For those who are new to the Galaxy, it is easier to understand because they no longer have to worry about which is better, the S series or the Note series. For existing Note users, it would be nice to have a new model compatible with the S pen as a terminal with a general shape that is not foldable.
Although no plans have been announced for Japan, the S21 series will be released as a summer 2021 model by KDDI and NTT Docomo, so we are looking forward to it.
“Environmental protection and 4th generation OS updates can be used for a long time”
At Samsung's announcement event, more and more time is devoted to the topic of “environmental protection.” This time as well, we are carefully appealing the company's overall policy, new product initiatives, and the appearance of the popular Korean group "BTS" at the end.
Smartphone manufacturers, not just Samsung, are likely to be enemies because they release new products one after another, and it is becoming essential to express environmental considerations as a set at the time of announcement.
Recycled paper materials are used for packaging of new products, including tablets and earphones. In addition, the Galaxy S22 series seems to use a lot of recycled materials, such as parts processed from used "fishing nets" that threaten marine life.
In addition, the Android OS update now supports "4th generation". Some models have already been compatible with the 3rd generation update, but we are extending the OS update for the new product S22 series and the previous model S21 series.
Recently, there is also a survey that more and more people, including Generation Z, are emphasizing "sustainability" when choosing what to wear. It can be said that the Galaxy S22 series is firmly based on such trends.
