On January 25, 2022, Yamaha strengthened the VPN router device "RTX830" and began offering the license "YSL-VPN-EX1" to expand the VPN functions. Expand the number of VPN connections (simultaneous connections) from 20 before applying the license to 100. Since it can accommodate up to 100 VPN clients, it is possible to use the RTX830 as a center router that accommodates VPN clients in a telework environment. . The price (excluding tax) is 75,000 yen for the RTX830 and 25,000 yen for the extended license YSL-VPN-EX1.

The RTX830 is an entry-level model of VPN router equipment suitable for remote connections from VPN client PCs and connections between sites (Related article: Yamaha's base VPN router "RTX830" operates cloud-based management and AWS connection improve manageability). The housing is compact, measuring 220mm wide x 43.5mm thick x 160.5mm deep (Photo 1). The port is 1000BASE-T for both WAN port and LAN port (with 4-port switching hub), and VPN throughput is 1Gbit/s.

Applying the license is easy. Licenses can be applied remotely using the cloud-based network integrated management service "Yamaha Network Organizer (YNO)". Since it is not necessary to replace the router itself, IT administrators can also apply licenses via telework. In addition, YSL-VPN-EX1 does not require license authentication via the Internet, so it can be used for connection between bases within a closed network.
