Sharp develops "electrostatic hover touch display" that can be operated with fingers floating
Sharp has developed an "electrostatic hover touch display" that can be operated with a finger floating without touching the display. This display will be exhibited at "CEATEC 2021 ONLINE" to be held from October 19th to 22nd, 2021. It is said that it proposes utilization in restaurants and shopping malls.
A display that uses a capacitive touch panel. The newly developed high-sensitivity touch controller can detect a finger up to 5 cm away from the display surface with high precision, and can be operated with the finger floating without directly touching the display. Even fingers with gloves can be detected.
In addition to horizontal installation, this display can also be installed vertically or diagonally. By making use of the display's expressive power, an intuitive user interface is realized by displaying an operation guide on the screen and playing sound effects when a finger is detected.
The screen size can be deployed in a wide range, from a medium size of about 15 inches to a large size of about 55 inches. By installing it in self-order terminals in stores, reception terminals in public and commercial facilities, and digital signage for guidance, it is possible to meet the needs of "non-contact" in various scenes.
In addition, it can also be applied to equipment used in food and pharmaceutical factories where high standards of hygiene management are required, and production sites where hands are prone to get oily and dirty.
