Ermhoi's new album "DREAM LAND" interview.Vol.1 I make music, as if the dream and the reality are drifting
Ermhoi, who has been active not only as a solo artist, but also as a member of Millennium Parade and Black Boboi, has been selected as the first voice actor in the movie "Dragon and Freshness Princess", and has expanded his place of activity. On December 15, 2021, his new album "DREAM LAND" was released. I heard a lot of albums, genres and regions in various musical roots, and movies that I love. We will deliver it in 3 times. [Video] The MV── "DREAM LAND" in the pre -distribution "Landfill" has a very fantastic atmosphere, as the title suggests, expressing the world of dreams. But if you look at the lyrics, there is an ecological and message. I thought it was an album with a multi -layered charm. It's a work that makes you want to listen repeatedly. Why is "Dream = Dream" the theme this time? The moment you find yourself most interesting is just before going to bed. When you are in a dream, a mysterious image often comes to mind. A very momentary image that will be trivial to forget if you wake up the next day. The reality and dreams are thrilled at the moment they go back and forth. Oh, I'm surprised that my brain was so interesting. The human potential is amazing. ── Sure. It feels like a part that you don't usually use awakens only when you're in a sloppy. That's right. It's similar to the feeling of making music. I often make it from songs, but in the meantime, the unconscious image is a word and the song is completed, but the feeling is a dream and reality, and the reality. It's a bit closer to a state where I don't know if I'm doing it or not. So, when I thought that my songs were a crystal of that kind of image, oh, this is Dreamland. I'm singing such a world. ── I see. A place of dream. Dream world. Since the title itself was quite sticky, the starting point was really appropriate (laughs). I feel like I started to make sense gradually. ─ The pre -distribution “landfill” is also very fantastic. Why is this a "landfill"? When I was a student, I often went to a landfill in Tokyo to play. To the vicinity of Shinkiba. The atmosphere of the artificially built is strange. I don't know if the land is spreading on the sea or where it is. Because it is reclaimed, it is not expensive, but it feels like you are in a place, so you can not understand the scale. At that time, I was quite sentimental. What I didn't think so far was, for example, what was my life, a relationship with people, and what I was alive. Anyway, it's a place that triggers a lot of thinking, landfill. ─ I understand that feeling well. You feel like "Where are you?" Somehow, there is a cyberpunk atmosphere. It's a bit like a blade runner. There is also a near future. There are huge bridges (Tokyo Gate Bridge), and a large amount of tetrapots are lined up. Even though artifacts are lined up, there is no loneliness in the city, and it feels refreshing. I like that.で す か Because I am an old person, I thought that it was a dream island in Koto Ward when it was landfilled in Dreamland. Ahahahaha. But that's true (laughs). ─ When did you become interested in music? I was a junior high school student. I wrote the lyrics with a humming song. But I don't think it can be done properly. Somehow the melody comes to mind, but it doesn't do it.で す か Did you have an environment that gets familiar with music? Both parents like music. My father was playing classical guitars, and my mother liked listening to music. ──Is your mother in Ireland, right? She is from Dublin, Ireland. Her mother likes Bob Dylan, likes Joni Mitchell, and likes The Band. ─ A rock girl who grew up in a rock of the 70's 70's. that's right. The rest are Cinaid Okonor and Cranberries. ──In Ireland (laughs). So I was familiar with such music naturally. My father is mainly jazz, so I often listen to Bossa Nova. Also, there are four different sisters, but her sister is listening to trendy J -pop and a little geeky. The first CD I bought was Spitz. And the Tokyo Incident. Because my sisters loved Ringo Shiina.で す か When should you play music yourself? When I was in high school, I played the band a little at the school festival, so I didn't do it in earnest. ── Playing the guitar? At that time it was a base. In junior high school, I always played brass band. I was playing trumpet, but I didn't like it in high school. From there I was fluttering. There is nothing that is constant, such as participating in an acquaintance orchestra as a hobby or doing a band. So, I started playing music after I entered college. The people around me used a computer to make music, so I wonder if I would try it myself. ──So, did you meet your current music friends, for example, Millennium Parade's Daiki Tsunoda, BLACK BOBOI members, and those people in college? I met Daiki when I graduated. In my fourth year of college, I made my first solo album called "Junior Refuse" and put it out of the label called Salvaged Tappes. Daishi Nedada, the president of the Mini Malmusic Orchestra Tokyo Shio Koji, found it and liked it. He was a classmate at Tokyo University of the Arts as Oki and Ishiwaka Hall, so he got along well. ── Oh, I see! So, spread it to your friends at the art university. One day, I was contacted by Ogi. "Let's play music together." It was the timing that I met Shun. So, I came to participate in each solo project. ── Isn't the side connection of that generation really interesting? I'm leading the current edge music scene. I thought everyone was connected, but it was still a artistic network. "Nu's flock" is (laughs). In my case, it was somewhat strange because it was through music. I don't think the communication power is so high, but I'm not good at selling myself, and I don't go out so much at night.で す か How do you go to clubs and parties? at all. So I can't do that kind of relationship at all. Just create it alone. Montmon (laughs). When I go outside, I want to meet people. But there is no energy to play around. So I was glad that the music I made had met many people.で す か Are you shy? Maybe (laughs). I'm not sure, but I'm not very good at it. ■ ERMHOI "DREAM LAND" released on December 15, 2021 PECF-3263 / ¥ 3,300ermhoi / Elm Hoi: Track maker and singer with roots between Japan and Ireland and expressing various worlds with its own sense.
