If you want to win, the PC version is true!
--Once again, what is the appeal of Fortnite?
Mr. Kagetora: There must be an element of "architecture". It's interesting that you can fight with tactics that you can't find in other games, such as blocking your opponent's bullets with buildings.
The point of Fortnite is to use buildings well. In order to block an enemy's attack or create a foothold by making a quick decision, not only skill but also an environment in which the game runs smoothly is essential-playing on a home console and playing on a PC is very different. Is it a thing?
Kagetora: I've played on all compatible devices, but PC is the easiest to build. The Switch version is 30fps, and the PS4 version is 60fps, but depending on the PC specs, you can achieve high frame rates such as 240fps. (In such a high frame rate environment) the drawing is smooth and the response speed is good, so it is easy to make it at the timing that the architecture is aiming for. In the Switch and PS4 versions, there is a delay from when you press the button until the construction starts, so you can build faster in the PC version.
――The basic operation is a controller on a home console, and a mouse and keyboard on a PC. Do you feel the difference?
Kagetora: The Switch and PS4 versions have an aim assist that makes it easier to aim, and moves as if the aim is being pulled. This is fine for beginners, but with practice you'll be able to aim your mouse more quickly where you want it. Therefore, I think that the more advanced the player, the stronger the mouse that can control the aim freely and at high speed.
――What are the specs of the PC you usually play on?
Kagetora: The CPU is Core i7 and the video card is GeForce RTX 2070. The display uses a gaming display with a refresh rate of 240Hz. The image quality is set to a low level with emphasis on the frame rate, so that it can reliably output around 240 fps according to the display. After all, the higher the frame rate, the smoother the drawing, making it easier to aim. Also, it's important to make it easy to spot enemies in the distance (because a high frame rate renders even the slightest movement of characters in the distance).
――What kind of specs do you think an advanced player needs?
Kagetora: If you're aiming to compete in the tournament, I'd like a Core i7 or higher and a GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER or higher. I don't think it's necessary in normal play, but in tournaments where high-level players gather, many players will remain in a small space (= a battleable area that narrows with a time limit), and the number of buildings will increase, so the frame rate will increase. is more likely to fall. Based on my experience, it becomes extremely heavy if more than 50 people remain in an area that has become somewhat narrow.
Even if 240fps is usually output, the frame rate drops to 120fps in such situations, so the higher the specs, the better.
--Are there any techniques unique to the PC version that can achieve a high frame rate?
Kagetora: Dealing with enemy bullets. As I said earlier, the reaction speed is faster on the PC, so you can build as soon as you see the enemy. Also, in a one-on-one situation, if you're in a fight on top, you'll have to build on top of the enemy as soon as possible or they'll escape. In such a situation, there will be a difference between the PC version, where the building will appear immediately, and the home game console, which has a delay.
