Even in remote work, if you can grasp the work status of each member at a glance, you will be able to proceed smoothly. In Slack, you can switch between your login states and statuses to let other members know what you're working on. In this article, we will introduce the basics and applications of Slack login work.
* All explanation screens are from Windows 10.
What are the benefits of using Slack's login state and status?
One of the inconveniences of remote work is that you don't know the status of the people you work with. For example, if you send a message but don't get a response, you're wondering whether to remind or wait. Even in such a case, you should be able to feel at ease if you know the status of the other party, such as "away" or "in a meeting". In this way, if you can check the login status of each member, the exchange of work will be smoother.
To check your login status in Slack, check the circle next to your display name. If the ○ is green, it is active, and if it is not colored, it is away.
Slack also has a display "Status" that communicates the status of each member's work.
By default, there are 5 types of status candidates: "In a meeting", "On the way to work", "Sick", "On vacation", and "Working remotely". You can also create your own stats. You can make your status more specific by choosing text and emojis within 100 characters.
You can also download emojis from the emoji pack and use various emojis such as "cooking" and "video conferencing" that are useful for remote work status.
